April 22 is Earth Day. April 19th -23rd is Earth week. But really… everyday is Earth Day.
I’m grateful for the 20 million people that protested for environmental change on April 22, 1970. Before 1970, there was no Environmental Protection Agency, Clean Water Act, or Clean Air Act. It was a day for environmental education via teach-ins that were held across the country.
Now it’s more than a day, or a week or movement. Sustainability and healing the planet from global warming and human destruction, has become a way of life.
I bet some of you are already doing a few of these easy ways to save the planets. If so, give yourself a round of applause. If not try to incorporate at least 5 of these. Every little bit helps.
I realized over the years that humans are so connected to the Earth. It’s necessary to understand that healing Mother Earth is also about healing the hearts, bodies and spirits of the humans who inhabit this planet.
There is still so much to do.
This week’s Derek Chauvin verdict of guilty on 3 counts of the killing George Floyd is a beginning in recognizing that police brutality will no longer be tolerated, and basic accountability can be expected.
Getting to this point is largely a result of protesting and people being fed up. The outcome of this verdict is going to set legal precedence for many lawsuits, criminal trials, and be the cornerstone for establishing new laws and organizations.
However, the road to healing racial inequities, and the effect of years of mental, emotional and spiritual trauma on people living in both white and black bodies is long and arduous.
Movement towards healing, and the act of opening ones heart elevates us all, beginning a human expansion of love.
It’s this expansion and elevation of love that will help heal the earth.
Imagine if everyone opened their hearts, forgave themselves and others, while standing for truth, justice, and love in their own small corner of the world, moment by moment and day by day.
That exponential energetic ripple moves through all living things… plants, animals and the earth.
So I give love, grace, and speak truth to myself and others as best I can everyday.
How are you doing with expanding your heart and giving love to yourself and others?
I’d love to know. Feel free to respond to this email.
Peace, Love, Plants!
